Effects of Military Training on the Physical Fitness

Abstract

|
Body composition and maximal work capacity were evaluated in 13 AF officer¢¥s candidates following a program of military training for 12 weeks.
No change was found in body weight throughout the period the sum andmean of 5 sites skinfolds were significantly decreased at the 6th week of training. specifically decrements of chest, triceps and abdominal skinfolds of 5 sites were found resting heart rate was significantly decreased throughout the period and this change was highly correlated (r=0.79) to the change of 5 sites skinfolds.
The maximal oxygen intake was increased from 2.84 to 3.21 l/min (48.1 to 53.3 ml min/kg).
The results obtained from this study indicated that physical fitness of the AF officer¢¥s candidates were improved by military training.
